Hemp is one of the most useful plants you’ll find out there. Most plants can only be used in a few ways, but hemp’s applications are said to be in the thousands. Hemp can be used to make fabric, bioplastic, and hempcrete, a building material made from a mixture of hemp wood pulp, water, and lime. On top of that, hemp seeds have great nutritional value.
We can’t forget about cannabidiol (CBD), one of the over 100 cannabinoids produced by hemp. The chemical has garnered a name for itself as a potent natural medicine, and although there’s little scientific evidence to back this, people have been buying CBD products in droves. All these factors have led to the growth of the hemp industry, and experts predict the sector will be worth at least $20 billion by 2020.
The Asian Hemp Summit brings together hemp stakeholders from around the world to discuss industry concerns, and this year’s summit will be held on Jan 31- Feb 1 in Kathmandu, Nepal. Entrepreneurs, politicians, development agencies, researchers, environmental groups, retailers and private hemp enthusiasts will gather at the summit to explore the potential of Asian countries in hemp production.
Various topics including entrepreneurship, market development, investing and public service will be covered during the conference. Attendees will also enjoy feature presentations covering a wide range of hemp sectors as well as with hemp specific technology and comprehensive reports on select Asian countries.
The Summit will also award a lucky entrepreneur for innovation through an Entrepreneurship Rewards Program meant to honor innovations among hemp start-ups. There will be five spots open, and honorees will be selected from among the start-ups, business students, researchers, and any other early-stage hemp initiatives.
The winner will be awarded free accreditation, accommodation at the Summit and the opportunity to make a 15-minute presentation to the attendees.
A variety of speakers will Grace the event. They include Kert Tether, Hemp Today; Daniel Kruse, HempConsult GmbH, Germany; Hugh Napier, AlmaStone, United Kingdom; Sanford Stein, Lowis & Gellen LLP, Cannabis Law LLC, USA; and Nando Knodel, Monophases SRL, Germany. They will discuss a variety of topics as explained earlier.
Apart from that, the summit will also feature HempToday Boutique, a traveling pop-up showroom. It will also feature a variety of innovative hemp products from around the globe. The boutique is a popular feature, having appeared at NoCo Hemp Expo in Colorado, USA, the European Industrial Hemp Association’s annual conference and the Latin American & Caribbean Hemp Summit.
Analysts believe that the entire hemp industry, including companies like Canopy Rivers Inc. (TSX: RIV) (OTC: CNPOF) and SinglePoint Inc. (OTCQB: SING), is glad that the summit is taking place since such events deepen the reach of the industry in new markets.
