New Scientific Review Highlights Potential of CBD in Treating Cancer, COVID Pain

A recently conducted scientific review has called attention to CBD’s potential in managing and treating symptoms of conditions such as diabetes, pain, epilepsy, schizophrenia, COVID-19 and cancer, among others. The review tries to summarize the impact of marijuana on human health, noting that the plant and its compounds demonstrate anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, antibacterial, antithrombotic, antiepileptic and analgesic properties. NY Hemp Firms Refile Lawsuit Against Law Banning Intoxicants from Hemp

A coalition of companies in New York has refiled a suit against the Office of Cannabis Management and the state’s Cannabis Control Board. The state-licensed operators claim that New York’s new rules on hemp-derived cannabinoid products have cost them losses adding up to millions of dollars. The companies hope to be awarded an injunction that would allow them to continue selling hemp products. This comes after a judge dismissed a similar case filed prior to this one on technical grounds. USDA Greenlights Modified Hemp Variant Free from CBD, THC

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) recently gave the green light to genetically engineered hemp that doesn’t produce cannabidiol (“CBD”) or tetrahydrocannabinol (“THC”). This is the second genetically engineered variety of hemp to receive approval from the USDA. A low CBD-and THC strain by Growing Together Research was approved by the agency last year. Hemp, under the 2018 Farm Bill, is defined as the cannabis sativa plant and any part with nothing more than 0.3% delta-9 THC concentration on dry weight basis.
