Illinois Hemp and Marijuana Symposium Planned for March 28

On March 28, a symposium on organic hemp and marijuana will be held to provide new and experienced farmers, producers, and growers with practical information and tools about the two industries.

The symposium will be held at the (SIU) Southern Illinois University Carbondale Student Center’s Old Main Room. The following will be discussed during the seminar; current research, rules and regulations, financial issues, banking, insurance, security, as well as information on pre-season, in-season, and post-production season.

The symposium, which will be held on March 28, would start at 8.30 a.m. and end at 4.30 p.m. Registration is open for a maximum of 100 people. Those who register before March 15 get the early bird offers of $50, and after that date, the registration price will be $65.

If you want to attend the symposium, you can sign up online. The registration fee is inclusive of all the sessions, refreshment breaks, and lunch.

During the event, hemp and marijuana experts from Illinois and Kentucky will be speaking, and they will provide the attendees with the recently updated and relevant information on the production of hemp and cannabis. They will be discussing, hemp production in Illinois, Southern Illinois University research, rules and regulation, crop security, more details on finance and insurance, how to select seeds and propagation, how to prepare the seedbed and controlling weeds.

Some of the other topics the experts are scheduled to talk about include:

  • Disease and pest identification, as well as how to control them.
  • Irrigation and fertilization practices.
  • Flowering and photoperiod identification, as well as how to manipulate these states, especially in an indoor grow tent.
  • The methods to use when harvesting, drying, and storage.
  • The chemistry involved when processing
  • The process involved in marketing the yields
  • THC/CBD sampling, testing, and interpreting the results.

The symposium is open to exhibitors and event sponsors. The registration fee for an exhibitor is $100, and it includes a 6-foot table spot for displaying their wares and lunch for two. Registration for exhibitors is also online.

Companies and individuals who are interested in sponsoring the event should get in contact with Peggy Wilken at the university to get more information on arrangements and details.

During lunch, there will be a vendors’ market where different vendors will be displaying a variety of products and equipment. There will also be door prizes and a time set aside for networking.

It is widely believed that industry players, such as SinglePoint Inc. (OTCQB: SING), fully support such training events since they help farmers and other value chain actors to get started on the right foot.
