On December 4, the Department of Agriculture in Missouri announced that the registration process for industrial hemp cultivation during the 2020 planting season is open, and farmers can apply.
Farmers who are interested in growing industrial hemp must first write an application, create land maps, and complete a fingerprint criminal history background check 30 days after submitting their request.
Final Fill-able application and Originating Agency Identification (ORI) number required to complete the background check would be found on the Department’s website starting from December 16.
The Department of Agriculture would start reviewing the producer registration applications from January 2.
The Director of Agriculture in Missouri, Chris Chinn, said that many regulatory agencies in the U.S. have been targeting industrial hemp. Chinn further noted that the state of Missouri decided to spend the 2020 planting season learning more about what works and doesn’t work after working closely with the growers, analyzing federal regulations passed by Congress and USDA, as well as incorporating their state law. The department is confident about their decision as they feel it will benefit the farmers.
Below is the Industrial Hemp Application timeline for the 2020 planting season in Missouri:
As the USDA, states, tribes, and territories work on establishing the final rules governing the crop, farmers in Missouri are urged by the Department of Agriculture to anticipate more changes in the laws and regulations over the next several years.
Following Missouri Senate Bill 133 and an extension of 2014 Farm Bill, the Department of Agriculture in the state would complete the final rules for the 2020 planting season.
Hemp laws in Missouri legalized and regulated the production and distribution of industrial hemp. The rules also eliminated the hemp acreage cap in Missouri and formed the following framework for registration of hemp farming and permits:
It looks like all is set in Missouri and experts believe that hemp industry players like Green Hygienics Holdings Inc. (OTCQB: GRYN) and HTC Extraction Systems (TSX.V: HTC) are putting a check mark on each additional state that opens up to this new cash crop.
