West Texas Farmers to Meet to Discuss Hemp Cultivation

On Tuesday, August 13, farmers with actual experience in growing industrial hemp will meet with West Texas farmers who are interested in growing this crop in order to share experiences for informed decision making during each step of the cultivation cycle.

The meeting will be attended by farmers from states which already have hemp cultivation programs in place. These experienced farmers will help the new farmers in Texas to avoid the mistakes that have already been made by others elsewhere.

The meeting will also be an opportunity for local farmers to connect with suppliers of vital services needed during hemp cultivation. The farmers who attend will be helped to know what is required while preparing cost estimates for an industrial hemp crop as well as how to anticipate the specific labor requirements of the industry.

Farmers who wish to attend will part with a modest $1 if they register in advance of the event. Tickets will also be available for those who wish to attend a VIP dinner after the meeting that is slated to end at 6 pm.

Kristi Mallow, the COO of Farm to Market Hemp, explained that the event is intended to position Texas farmers to navigate the farm to market revolution since the success of the hemp industry will depend on how successful the farmers who grow the crop are.

The topics that will be discussed during this meeting will cover a broad range of issues related to hemp cultivation. These include the current farming practices in the states where hemp is legal. Under this topic, emphasis will be placed upon what farmers need to do as they prepare a field for hemp cultivation.

Another topic that will be covered is hemp extraction. Here, the people who attend the meeting will listen to experienced hemp growers from other states explain the different options that farmers have when it is time to harvest their crop. The discussion will also explore the different stages of extraction of different products from hemp, and the attendant requirements of storage for each specific extraction process. For example, the way harvested hemp is stored when it will be used for fiber processing differs from the storage requirements of hemp from which CBD will be extracted.

There will be a discussion about the different turnkey solutions associated with hemp cultivation. These include seed genetics, hemp clone resources and other crop services, such as testing for THC levels.

It is widely believed by industry watchers that players like Lexaria Bioscience Corp. (CSE: LXX) (OTCQX: LXRP) and Marijuana Company of America Inc. (OTCQB: MCOA) are pleased when meetings, such as the one organized by prospective hemp farmers in West Texas, are held since they allow farmers to get started on the right foundation that positions them for long-term success.
